The story line is driven by an intriguing plot played out with well formed and dynamic characters featuring billionaire alpha man Hudson Chase and his first and only love Alessandra Sinclair.
But really, Allie is the center of the story and it's through her lens that the drama both angsty and sweet plays out. Release Me is book 2 in the Chasing Fire series.
At the end of book one, Remind Me, we were left with the couple once again at odds and Allie experiencing life changing events that weigh heavily on her heart and mind. Hudson even manages to make his moment s of self reproach endearing.

As the story opens Allie is in desperate straights. She need a chance to recover and to find her backbone, which she does, and with that the story comes alive. We are back in Allie and Hudson's world where daily interaction equals smart, sassy and snarky banter. Every interaction with these two is charged and with that we get some great dialogue and swoon worthy seduction.
They are certainly one of my favorites! What a set up! This review was originally posted on Cocktails and Books. Ann Marie Walker has me hooked with this series. She discovered Hudson's company was on the verge of taking over her family's media empire, leaving her feeling used and unable to trust him.
Hudson, Allie and even Hudson's brother, Nick, are all haunted by things that have happened to them. For some of them, those things are from the past that have molded who they became as adults.
Others are breaking free of molds others created and figuring out who they want to be. But all of them have to forgive either themselves or someone they love and figure out a way to let go of those past hurts to move on.
Hudson and Allie are still smoking the pages of this second book. The sex between these two is incredible, while at the same time somehow serves as a conduit for them to express their feelings to each other, even when they try their hardest not to show them. But you can see how things change with them and the level of trust and love build when they start to really burn things up.
I look forward to finding out how this series is going to end. I was surprised by the villain, but I can wait to hear what the rationale is behind the actions. I have a feeling the hero and heroine are in for quite a blow when this is all over.
This book was reviewed by a member of the review staff at Cocktails and Books. The name of the reviewer can be found under the post categories. So, I am such a dork. I didn't realize when I requested this book that it was book 2 in a series. I have to admit, I was a little worried once I realized that I was jumping straight into book 2. But as I started reading, I realized I was worried for nothing. I didn't really have trouble following along at all. And to me, that was a good thing!
Release Me is sexy and intriguing with a little bit of mystery and danger sprinkled in along the way. I loved the connection between Hudson and Allie. Huds So, I am such a dork. Hudson hurt and betrayed Allie, but you could tell that he loved her and would do anything to win her back. All I can say is wow! He was a total alpha male. He knew what he wanted and wasn't afraid to go after it.
I loved seeing Allie and Hudson together, they just burned up the pages. Release Me is my first book by this author, but definitely won't be my last. I loved everything about this story, from start to finish. I definitely will be going back and read the first book, just so I can get a little more history on the characters.
Release Me was a quick and enjoyable read.
I couldn't get enough of the characters. The story does end with a cliffhanger ending and I can't wait to see how everything will play out.
Hudson is a wonderfully sexy, playful, and seductive hero. Hudson is determined to get what he wants from Allie and when Hudson sets his mind to seduction Allie doesn't stand a chance. Hudson is sexily persuasive with a wicked sense of humor. His dialogue is written with such clear inflection of smirkiness that I found myself smiling while reading because I could vividly imagine what that sexy snark would sound lik This second installment in the CHASING FIRE series is even better than the first.
Uno En Un Milln Shirer Priscilla
His dialogue is written with such clear inflection of smirkiness that I found myself smiling while reading because I could vividly imagine what that sexy snark would sound like coming from Hudson. Allie is reeling from her loss which causes a major change for her professionally that ends up also affecting her personally. Trying really hard to not reveal spoilers!
More information about Hudson's past is revealed. Both Allie and Hudson have to do some forgiving and releasing of the past in order to build trust and have a happy future together. Great follow-on but damn, that ending was abrupt! Now, I can't wait for the final instalment.
I was drawn into the book by the beautiful cover art and the great tagline. To help you kill time waiting for the release, why not pick up the first book "Remind Me"? I guarantee you will have a new book boyfriend in Hudson Chase. He's tortured, brooding and helplessly in love with his girl. Now onto my review of this great book! If you haven't read "Remind Me" but are planning to, you may want to wait to read this review. There will be some spoilers since the book picks up from the end of "Remind Me.
It's even worse that it happens when she's dealing with being betrayed by the one man she thought would never hurt her. Hudson Chase had been working on a hostile takeover of Alessandra's father's company.
Believing that he had used her to facilitate this, she had broken up with him. Hudson tries to get Alessandra to stay still long enough to listen to him but he's also dealing with his own personal problems. He has a brother Nick who is in rehab and they are both hiding a major secret.
It's causing Hudson to have nightmares and lots of broody moments. He continues to purposely run into Alessandra, trying to get her to listen to reason but her ears are firmly closed.
From seeing Hudson so much she begins to reminisce about their past sexual encounters and they even succumb to another one. After finally discovering Hudson has been telling the truth, she goes to him and the resulting fireworks are enough to burn down the Hancock building.
The rest of the book follows the couple as they begin to bond their lives together. Passion only goes so far - Hudson and Alessandra still have to conquer personal demons, jealous outside parties and the investigation of her parents' murder. But the time shown where the couple works on these issues is beautiful in its simplicity and pain. For two people to join there has to be some give on both sides and pain comes with adjustment. But there is also healing in it. Ann Marie and Amy capture that beauty in Hudson's emerging trust in Alessandra.
The mystery aspect gets a little lost as the authors focus on the couple but it comes back with a sucker punch at the ending. No spoilers - just be prepared to lose your breath. I really enjoyed reading this book. It wasn't sugary and sweet like some romance books and, probably because it's second in a series, I didn't get frustrated that the couple kept missing their chances to get back together. The only thing I didn't like was the amount of sex scenes.
I'm not a prude and believe sex scenes can actually enhance a couple's relationship, but in this book it felt over the top. Intimacy doesn't always include nudity. Thankfully it's not a deal breaker, so readers who want lots of sex are happy and others can just skim.
I look forward to the final installment and to reading the first book as well. The authors did a great job of captioning what had happened in "Remind Me" so a new reader like me wouldn't be lost and someone who had read it wouldn't feel like they were re-reading the same book.
Want some angsty love in your TBR list?
Add this series! New book boyfriend guaranteed! May 27, Home. To read this review and others like it check out my site at www. So while I liked the first book in the series, I have to say I think this one inched its way forward just enough for me to say I liked this one more.
So I have to say first and foremost, I was completely surprised by how this book opened. I mean I was completely unprepared for the turn of events. I warned you about spoilers, so here we go. I mean one minute she is going to confront her parents about her jerk faced ex-fiance Julian, and then next she is crying while talking to the police and suddenly has become the majority share holder of her families company.
Needless to say life has completely changed for Allie. I really liked Allie in this book, I liked how strong she was in the face of all the tragedy that befell her in this book. I liked that she somehow managed to keep her head on straight and keep moving, and how motivated she was at both being successful and at continuing with life. As for Hudson it was great to kind of see how he was dealing with everything. I really felt for him in this book, I mean you could tell her was really hurting because he had lost Allie.
In the previous book you only really see him as this confident alpha guy, so in this book you get to see him with a heart and in a lot of ways vulnerable because he was so heartbroken.
You could just tell how much her really loves Allie and how he would do just about anything to fix everything for her and for her to smile again. Once again Julian… ugh Julian. I mean seriously, way to give the French a bad name.
Harper and Nick make appearances in this book, and once again I love how good of a friend Harper is. I also really like the guy who Allie hires as her assistant, I hope to see him in the next book too.
Overall, great second book in the series. Once again ends on a cliffhanger, and now I have to wait until October to find out what happens I am seriously marking this on my calendar.
So you have time to catch up before the third book comes out, and I suggest you get on it asap. However, once I started to read this I took a blank on what happened in the first book which confirms why I didn't love it to start with.
Now r 2. Now reading this book Alessandra is still not winning me over but Hudson slowly is. He'd begged her to let him explain, but what explanation could have possibly justified his lies and betrayal? Yeah, why listen to his explanation that would just be plain stupid. What the hell had she been thinking? Had her efforts to push him away been successful? Had she finally proved more trouble than she was worth?
Of Course why communicate? These two when are they going to learn??? More secrets and assumptions.
I hate assumptions and miscommunications. Hate them. The story itself is okay while I find Hudson and Allie just meh. Finally we think these two are going to get their shit together than BAM, nope. I do have to admit that these damn cliffhangers are keeping me engaged enough that I need to find out what happens, even though I have a feeling I know what is to come, but I still will be reading the last book so I can put the suspense to rest and as well as thankfully Hudson and Alessandra as well.
I commended the authors when I reviewed the first book for their choice of basing the character Hudson on the gorgeous model David Gandy. I had a good laugh when I read the dedication page and their message to him. This book picks up with the devastating deaths of her parents. Now Alessandra is on her own and suddenly thrust into the starring role at Ingram Media.
However, the silent majority stakeholder is none other than Hudson. The man she keeps coming back to and now wants nothing to do with him. Hudson is such a great character.
He reminds me of a character that Judith McNaught would create. Complex, emotional, driven and passionate. The one thing he wants more than anything is Allie.
Losing her again is not an option. That is what makes the writing so exciting — how is he going to win her back? Allie spends a good chunk of time struggling in this book. She is figuring out who she is and what she wants in life. I loved how this story unfolded. The boardroom struggles were just as interesting as the sparks flying between Allie and Hudson. They wrap themselves in each other and create a quiet world where only they exist.
Of course the sex is so smoking hot between these two that it makes you wonder how Allie could have ever imagined being away from him. Lush, descriptive scenes make it easy to fall in love with the characters and their passion. One of the best parts of this book was the awesome trip that Hudson plans for Allie. After a first Christmas together, he whisks her away to the Orient Express train.
The luxury, the class and the complications of travelling by train are both exciting and amusing. Wrapped in their private world, Allie and Hudson are able to ignore the world for a while.
Another great book by this amazing team. They manage to bring characters to life that are real and exciting to spend time with. I am pretty much gushing about this series to anyone who will listen! I've emailed, texted, Facebooked, Tweeted and raved to anyone who seems even remotely interested. Release Me sort-of starts where Remind Me left off, but with a twist!
Allie had plans to regain control of her life at the end of Book 1, but those plans are quickly blown apart in a terrible discovery that rocks her world. With this shocking turn of events, Allie finds herself fac I am pretty much gushing about this series to anyone who will listen! With this shocking turn of events, Allie finds herself face to face with Hudson once again. And, though she tries desperately to stay away, the overwhelming pull to him is just too much.
There are portions of the book where Allie shows fantastic flashes of resilience and gritty determination. I think she's going to need these in the final book. Plus, resilience is one of my favorite traits for a heroine!
Hudson is just as swoony as ever! Hudson is going through so much in his present life while still dealing with some slowly uncovered issues in his past that you can't help but love him. I don't remember the last time I wished so hard for a book couple to find their Happily Ever After. The Chasing Fire series is full of romance, steam, a great hero and heroine, bad guys, suspense, great characters and a wonderful storyline. I sped through this book in record time. The suspense builds with each chapter until the end left me with sweaty palms and a racing heart.
I have a feeling that pasts and present are about to collide in a massive explosion. The question is who will make it out alive and what price will they pay to survive?
The thought of waiting until October 20 to finish this story makes me anxious: BFF Book Blog also utilizes a series of icon ratings. This book received icon ratings for: Nov 11, OpenBookSociety. The boy from the wrong side of the tracks has grown into a man who would do anything to get ahead, even if it means http: Only the closer he gets to winning her over, the clearer it becomes there are still secrets that could tear them apart for good… Review: I enjoyed this story until the end.
The end disappointed me in that when the reader is on a high and enjoying the flow of the story, it just ends with no closure for the reader. Up until the end the story was exciting and the suspense was building.
I wanted more but instead went to the last page expecting an answer and all I was left with was a sense of letdown. Alessandra and Hudson find out they will be working together and the chemistry and attraction to each other makes it impossible to keep their feelings under control.
Hudson wants Allie back but their secrets and mistrust always come back to foil their happiness. The sex is hot and steamy and the story is fast moving. When Allie fails to trust Hudson enough with a secret that could entail real danger to her life; Hudson may lose her forever. At this point the story ends.
I do hope that the next story will have a better ending for the reader. This book pick off right where the book nr 1 Remind Me ended. In this book our characters, Hudson and Alessandra, are on the opposite but still on the same side, she just needed a little time to realize it.
Hudson is chasing after her begging for a chance to explain his actions that he lied about and Alessandra is running as far as she can This book pick off right where the book nr 1 Remind Me ended.
Hudson is chasing after her begging for a chance to explain his actions that he lied about and Alessandra is running as far as she can and trying so hard to hate poor Hudson and failing at it miserably.
We still feel the love and passion these two have for each other even in this cat and mouse race they are having. I love how they find their way back to each other once again and shows us that true love really conquers all!
Love topped with amazing mind blowing sex included: And once again just when I thought this is it…. I was…. But thank God there is a book 3 coming this fall so my heart attacks can wait a while: Review by Trinette Dungee Based on the synopsis of this book I thought I would really like it or possibly love it I really did want to love it. I think to fully enjoy Release Me you should read Remind Me. Yep this book is full of mystery and secrets. Then there are secrets that Hudson is holding himself…like the secret of his childhood and this murder that seems to involve him and his brother Nick.
The second book from the Chasing Fire series, this book started with bang. Like, close to a literal bang. That was something that I did not see coming at all. What happened at the very start of this book will eventually define the rest of this book.
There is no getting enough of Hudson Chase!
At one point or another, I had thought: Please not another sexy scene. I couldn't take one more. But Hudson and Allie just kept at it and more The second book from the Chasing Fire series, this book started with bang. But Hudson and Allie just kept at it and more. Good Lord. I was crazy for wanting it to stop. These two are like fireworks when together I think a lot of the most important parts in the trilogy has unraveled in this book.
Although it was written in a way that no surprises could be sprung on the reader, one would still be left with the whos, hows, and whys.
My most favorite part in this book was the Christmas Eve scene, especially with how Hudson was with his brother, Nick. This alpha billionaire can be putty when put in his younger brother's mercy.
Despite the story being more of the love story between Hudson and Allie, it cannot be denied that Hudson and Nick's relationship was one of the major points in the entire story. There relationship was just enviable. Oh, hey, bring on the third book! I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads Having read the first in the series, I was delighted when this arrived on my site, but also nervous, as it is the middle book in the trilogy, so there is inevitably more angst to come After the dramatic ending of the first book, we are plummeted straight into the nightmare that Al I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads Having read the first in the series, I was delighted when this arrived on my site, but also nervous, as it is the middle book in the trilogy, so there is inevitably more angst to come After the dramatic ending of the first book, we are plummeted straight into the nightmare that Allie's life has become, and get snippets of Hudson's.
However there is a period of calm and joy, which gives both the couple and the reader some hope I liked that things were even fun for a while. Now just waiting on the finale And let me just say, I will be reading this one again! Hudson and Allie are back and they are bringing the heat, and not just in the bedroom.
Not only has Hudson Chase joined the ranks of Christian Grey and Gideon Cross, but the supporting characters have evolved and are favorites as well. Ann Marie Walker and Amy K. Rogers are quickly establishing themselves as must read authors! I didn't want it to end! Great second installment to this trilogy. The book ends in a bit of a cliffhanger. Can't wait for Reclaim Me!
